Ultra Durable 3

GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 3 design, featuring 2 ounces of copper for both the Power and Ground layers which dramatically lowers system temperature by delivering a more efficient spreading of heat from critical areas of the motherboard such as the CPU power zone throughout the entire PCB. GIGABYTE’s Ultra Durable 3 also lowers the PCB impedance by 50%, which helps to reduce electrical waste and further lowers component temperatures. Doubling the amount of copper lowers the PCB impedance by 50%. Impedance is a measure of how much the circuit impedes the flow of current. The less the flow of current is impeded, the less amount of energy is wasted.     Since I couldn't edit my earlier review, here's another.

    Disregard the DOA comment on my previous review.
    I gave it another go & it turned out I didn't have the CPU 100% snug into the socket. Reinstalled all the components & it's working just fine.

    Next step is to try to unlock those extra cores on the 550

    Bought this board for a budget build for myself for Christmas.

    Got everything connected, and everything powered on ok, but I had no video output.
    Checked all the vid card connections & made sure it was seated correctly but still no go.
    Tried removing all components except the basics then when I hit the power switch there was a pop & a flash & then a burning smell. Didn't see any burn marks on the board, but something died so will RMA & try my luck with a replacement.
    Hopefully it gets here before Christmas.

    Also purchased the DDR2 version of this board for my stepson at the same time. Here's hoping I have more luck with that one.

    Will update  review when the replacement board gets here.

    This a great motherboad.

    Out of the box, I was amazed at how solid and sturdy it felt. Its part of the 3oz Copper board Gigabyte technologie but I didn't expect it to feel that robust.

    The Board layout was very conveniant to work with.

    The Bios is a pleasure to work with. Everything was well layed out. Bonus for providing the ability to unlock the phenoms X2 and X3 from the ACC utility.

    For overclockers, this board was very easy to work with. It provides every tools too achieve maximum overclock. It has dual boot for added security and when the limit is reached, it reboots very well and revert to the last stable settings.


    2 slight negatives.

    Its a budget board so it doesn't provide 2 X16 PCI slots.
    On my board, the sound chip produced some random noises. That could be specific to my specific board as I have heard very good reviews of this sound chip. Luckily, I have an old PCI sound card that I can throw in to replace the on-board chip.

    Warranty Effective On Date of Manufacture

    Gigabyte determines warranty based on the manufacture date. The manufacture date can be verified by the serial number found on the product. The first four digits after "SN" determine the year and week of manufacturing date. For example:

    RMA Request Procedures and Guidelines

    • All RMA request forms must be completed in order to obtain a RMA number

    • RMA request with missing or incorrect serial number(s) may result in a delayed process or a rejection of request

    • Any model discrepancy for received items may result in a delayed processing timeProducts received with no RMA number may delay processing or refusal
      (Gigabyte will not be responsible for items received without proper information)

    • No cross shipping or advanced replacements under any circumstances
